About the Newsletter
Welcome to the first edition of Quirky Quickies. You will enjoy 100-word fictional stories that will delight your senses and bring a smile to your face. Every Monday and Thursday, I will publish an issue including three stories.
I aim to brighten your day and keep you coming back for more!
Inspiration Behind Newsletter
During my time on Medium, I read many short stories called Drabbles. These are exactly 100-word short fictional pieces based on a genre, word/phrase, and often with a twist.
They were so enjoyable that I decided to start. The support I received empowered me to continue.
I like them as a writer because:
They are a fun exercise to get my creative juices flowing.
They enable me to practice editing skills.
I like them as a reader because:
They are the perfect 1-2 minute length.
They evoke an emotional response.
Building a Community
On Medium, I fell in love with the community. Writers and readers united in a way that was supportive like none other. I hope to emulate that here and grow together.
I am a proud Multipotentialite who enjoys many aspects of this life. I welcome diversity and am open to growth. As a life learner, I continually explore different topics and ways of thinking.
I look forward to supporting others while building my network.
Subscriber Benefits
For now, I do not intend to have a paid subscription available. I want people to feel free to read my words and my style. This may change in the future, but for now, this is where I stand.
You will receive two email posts on Mondays and Thursdays. They will include three 100-word short, humorous stories. (Word Count won’t include the title)
This is longer due to it being the first newsletter.
Three Quirky Quickies
Christmas Wars
Sharon and Evelyn had been neighbors for over thirty years.
Their children, now grown, had become good friends. Their husbands went on fishing trips together.
But they did not get along.
Every Christmas season, World War III took place.
Sharon put up three sparkling, twinkling Christmas trees.
Evelyn put up four. Sharon put up six more. Evelyn added a tree farm.
Evelyn had enough. She was going to win. Instead of buying out the local Home Depot of decorations, she rented a bulldozer and crashed through Evelyn’s house.
As the cops drove her away, she thought, “Ha. I won, beeotch.”
A Little Bit Clueless…And A Lot A Bit Extra
I can’t believe my boyfriend left me.
After three years of patiently waiting for him to propose. Okay, well, maybe not patiently.
You know what I mean?
I hinted playfully by sending marketing ads of my favorite rings. I subtly mentioned that he’d look amazing in tails and a tophat. I sent a Google Form with the top ten songs for our first dance.
I’m sure you know how I feel.
It felt like I’d been sucker-punched right in the gut.
It felt like you just fell off the edge of the earth.
You know —
Oh! Who’s that hottie?
When Good Deeds Go South
Pumping away on the elliptical machine, I wiped my brow.
Then, I heard a loud thump beside me.
An older woman had fallen off her treadmill.
Without thinking, I ran over to help. In moments, the staff called 911 as I tried to comfort her. She whimpered that she needed to go to the bathroom.
I helped her onto the toilet and tried to leave the stall.
“No! I need help.”
Loud, rumbling plops sounded.
After ten minutes of helping a stranger wipe her butt, I realized I should have continued to work out and wipe my own sweat instead.

I enjoyed reading your post and liked the short sentence style. Creative, fresh and well done!
