Three Quirky Quickies
Superpower Funk
I live in a land of superpowers.
It is a wondrous land that houses some of the greats: Spiderman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Wolverine.
On our 13th birthday, we are gifted with our special ability.
My best friend, Josh, received the power to fly.
My good friend, Sam, received the power of invisibility.
My arch nemesis, Roger, received the power of breathing underwater.
After I blew out my candles, the signature light shone above me as my friends, family and I waited anxiously.
Frowning, I knew right away.
My power was the ability to take a 5-minute nap instantly.
Trust Me
Albert loved his new gig — a tour guide of Downtown Savannah.
It wasn’t the incredible history. It wasn’t the schedule flexibility. It wasn’t even the impressive tips.
It was the people.
Every day he had a new group of idiots to play with. He could say King Henry VIII created that 1948 statue.
He could say Michael Jordan learned how to bowl in that cemetery.
He could even say that the ghost of Edgar Allan Poe drinks tea with the ghost of Richard Nixon every night at exactly 9:47 pm.
People would believe him. What “fact” would he share next?
The Perfect Parent
If Tami won an award, it would be for “Perfect Mom.”
Every day, she would tell her son, Bobby, that he was the best gift she ever received.
She would praise him for his accomplishments.
She only fed him expensive, organic food.
She cut the pieces up, so he wouldn’t choke.
She rubbed his back and tickled his neck.
She read stories to him every night.
She held him close and sang lullabies to help him sleep.
When he got an “ouchie,” she kissed, cleaned, and bandaged it.
Yes, Tami was an incredible mother.
But Bobby’s wife isn’t a fan.

I love the punchlines at the end of the quickies. Really well done.
Superpower Funk - I wish I had that superpower! I'm the worst napper ever!
I'm so glad I avoided The Perfect Parent. Yuck!
